Yangwang U9 Chinese electric supercar with top power and technology

One of the most interesting cars on display at the Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) 2024 is the BYD Yangwang U9, the brand’s first electric supercar. This car model was only sold in the Chinese market in February, so its appearance in Thailand surprised many people.

Yangwang U9, a new electric supercar from China, is attracting attention with a set selling price of 1.68 million yuan (about 233,000 USD) in the country’s market, far exceeding initial expectations.

With power coming from 4 electric motors, one for each wheel, with a total capacity of 1,306 PS and maximum torque of up to 1,680 Nm, Yangwang U9 is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 2 .36 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 309 km/h.

One of the special features of the Yangwang U9 is not only its power and performance, but also the use of the first monocoque carbon fiber frame in a Chinese car, combined with the company’s DiSus-X suspension system. BYD, allowing the vehicle to flexibly move and operate on many types of terrain. In particular, with a 4-engine structure, Yangwang U9 has the ability to rotate flexibly like a tank.

The U9 continues to use BYD’s lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology with a capacity of 80 kWh, providing a range of 450 km (according to CLTC standards). The vehicle is designed with 800V technology and supports DC fast charging up to 500 kW, allowing charging from 10 to 80% of the battery in just 10 minutes.

In terms of design, the Yangwang U9 has a sporty coupe style with sharp and angular lines, combined with LED daytime running lights and a large rear spoiler. The interior of the U9 is minimalist in design with a digital display screen and a 12-speaker Dynaudio Evidence Platinum premium sound system.
