Porsche Macan EV 2024: Price from 79,000 USD, Turbo version faster than 911 GT3

Porsche has officially launched the second generation of its popular Macan SUV, switching from a gasoline engine to an electric powertrain for the first time.

Design

The new Macan EV still carries the identifying characteristics of Porsche cars in general and the Macan line in particular, but is also slightly more developed thanks to the use of Porsche’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform, shared with the Audi Q6 e- Tron.

The car has an overall length of 4,786 mm, 58 mm longer than the Macan internal combustion engine version. The Macan EV is also 76.2 mm taller and 224 mm wider.

The Macan EV has a coupe-like roofline and wide fenders that hide its electric vehicle platform.

The front of the car does not have a grille but only comes with a wide central air vent in the front bumper. The car is equipped with a 2-level lighting system on the top of the car with 4 LED daytime positioning light strips above. Below is the main headlight cluster located deep in a wide cavity.

Round the rear, the Macan EV is equipped with horizontal taillights, spanning the entire width of the vehicle’s rear. In addition, the car also has a rear bumper covered in black plastic with fake air vents, giving it a sportier and healthier feel.

Interior

The larger size helps the new Macan EV have more spacious interior space. Rear passengers now have more legroom and the new Macan also has more luggage capacity than the internal combustion engine version.

In this generation, the interior of the Macan EV follows the trend of multiple screens like the Cayenne or Panamera models. On the dashboard there are up to 3 different screens, including a 12.6-inch digital gauge panel, a 10.9-inch central touch screen and an entertainment screen for passengers sitting in the seats. The front end measures 10.9 inches.

Efficiency

Every Macan EV is equipped with four-wheel drive thanks to electric motors located on each axle. They are powered by a 100 kWh 800 volt battery pack that has an updated design and chemistry compared to the Taycan.

The integrated battery management system enables DC charging up to 270 kW. The car can charge the battery from 10-80% in just 21 minutes.

Both the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo are expected to have an estimated range of approximately 483 km.

Speed is something that is naturally associated with both Porsche and electric cars, and the Macan doesn’t buck that trend.

At the time of launch, Macan EV has 2 versions: Macan 4 and Macan Turbo, and many other versions will be added later.

The base Macan 4 produces 402 horsepower and 648 Nm of torque. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, before reaching a maximum speed of 219 km/h.

Meanwhile, Macan Turbo possesses a maximum capacity of 630 horsepower and maximum torque of 1,128 Nm. This remarkable power helps the car accelerate from 0-96 km/h in just 3.1 seconds, before reaching a maximum speed of 259 km/h.

Thus, the new Macan Turbo is faster than the 911 GT3 with a capacity of 502 horsepower.

Macan 4 has a starting price of 78,800 USD, not including shipping fee of 1,650 USD, and Macan Turbo has a starting price of 105,300 USD, also not including shipping fee.
