Putting the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado on the scale with the Lexus GX, we see many big differences despite sharing the same chassis

The latest Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Lexus GX still have many unique features in terms of interior and powertrain.

Engine: The biggest difference between the two cars, very surprisingly, comes from the engine. Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2024 runs on a 2.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine supported by an electric motor placed in the gearbox for a capacity of 326 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Lexus GX uses a 3.4L twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 349 horsepower and 650 Nm. The transmissions on both sides are also different with the Toyota SUV using an 8-speed automatic and the Lexus GX using a 10-speed automatic.
Seats: Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2024 only has a default 5-seat configuration and Toyota has not expressed any intention to add a 3-row version. In contrast, the Lexus GX 2024 has a 2- and 3-row configuration from the start.
Off-road: Lexus GX has a center anti-slip differential and standard 2-wheel drive to support off-road, however most of the equipment supporting this segment is in the form of high-end equipment. Meanwhile, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is equipped with 2-wheel drive, rear micro lock, downhill assist and low-speed off-road Cruise Control by default, while the high-end equipment is no less than the GX.
Technology: In standard configuration, Prado has an 8-inch entertainment screen and a 7-inch digital dashboard. Default sound system has 6 speakers. The premium version increases these parameters to 12.3 inches, 12.3 inches and 14 speakers respectively. However, compared directly with the Lexus GX, which has a 14-inch center screen and a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and 21 Mark Levinson speakers, the Prado loses quite a bit. However, the two cars still share a lot of equipment such as HUD screens or digital rearview mirrors.
Safety technology: The only factor the two cars are identical is that Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 are both the newest and most complete versions.
Price: Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2024 is confirmed to start at about 55,000 USD. Meanwhile, the selling price of the Lexus GX 2024 has not been clarified but is probably not lower than the previous generation (more than 60,000 USD). When considering the new equipment that Lexus cars possess, the starting mark of 70,000 USD is probably more reasonable.
