The Skoda Karoq and Kodiaq cars have been imported to Vietnam and are ready to wait for the official launch.
The first Skoda models that will officially appear on the Vietnamese market are Karoq and Kodiaq. According to information from Skoda’s official fanpage in Vietnam, these two SUVs will be revealed next September. These are also two of the four car lines Skoda plans to bring to Vietnam this year, including Octavia and Superb.
Although the distributor has not revealed more specific information about the upcoming Karoq and Kodiaq, the dealer representative has revealed that these two models will have 2 different versions, along with 2 engine and system options. drive.
According to the representative, Karoq will have 2 versions: Ambition 1.4 TSI Turbo and Style 1.4 TSI Turbo, while Kodiaq will have 2 versions: Ambition 1.4 TSI Turbo and Style 2.0 TSI Turbo 4×4. These names show that the two engines used are 1.4L turbocharged and 2.0L turbocharged, along with the 4-wheel drive system on the highest-end Kodiaq version.
Compared to the international version, the 1.4L engine will have a capacity of 148 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, with front-wheel drive. Meanwhile, the 2.0L engine will have a capacity of 188 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, combined with a 4-wheel drive system.
It can be predicted that these two models will be fully equipped with advanced safety features, as images of the vehicles in transit clearly show hardware devices such as cameras and front radar. Kodiaq is larger, belongs to segment D. Competitors in the same segment include Mazda CX-8, Kia Sorento or Hyundai Santa Fe. The car’s dimensions are 4,697 mm long, 1,882 mm wide and 1,676 mm high.
Looking at the New Zealand market, the Karoq Ambition and Karoq Style models (similar to the expected version in Vietnam) are priced at 46,990 NZD and 52,990 NZD, equivalent to 668 million VND and 754 million VND, respectively. The prices of Kodiaq Ambition 1.4 TSI Turbo and Kodiaq Style 2.0 TSI Turbo 4×4 in this market are 53,990 NZD and 70,990 NZD, equivalent to 768 million VND and 1,009 billion VND.
Another brand in the same popular segment as Skoda is Volkswagen. The German car company often prices its products higher than the average price of Japanese, Korean and American brands. Therefore, it may be difficult to expect that the price of Skoda cars will be lower in the Vietnamese market.
The initial Skoda cars will be completely imported to Vietnam. Skoda has previously announced plans to assemble vehicles domestically, however, the Karoq and Kodiaq are not on the list of domestically assembled car models.
