The MG RX5 will be launched in Vietnam next month, challenging the Mazda CX-5 with a competitive price, equivalent to B-size SUVs.

In mid-September 2023, the MG car brand will launch the RX5 SUV model in the Vietnamese market. Although it belongs to the C-size SUV segment, the MG RX5 will compete with a reasonable price, equivalent to smaller models such as Hyundai Creta or Kia Seltos.

From July 2023, SAIC Vietnam has been responsible for distributing the MG brand in Vietnam, replacing TC Services. This is a subsidiary of Chinese automobile group SAIC, owner of the MG brand. Immediately after entering the market, SAIC Vietnam planned to launch many new car models, including the MG RX5.

MG RX5, previously only officially distributed in China and some Asian markets such as Thailand, Indonesia and India. Latest information shows that the first batch of MG RX5 cars has been imported and is completing the inspection process before officially opening for sale.

Information from the Chinese market says that the MG RX5 has overall dimensions of length x width x height of 4,571 x 1,855 x 1,719 mm respectively. With these figures, the car has the same size as C-size SUV models currently in the Vietnamese market such as Mazda CX-5 or Peugeot 3008.

In common with other MG brand cars, the RX5 stands out with its youthful, modern design. The front impresses with a wide, hourglass-shaped steering wheel, reminding people of Lexus. The headlight cluster is surrounded by a C-shaped LED daytime running light strip to create a highlight. At the bottom, two large vertical air intakes add character.

The rear lights of the MG RX5 are also designed in a similar style, creating a softness for the overall appearance. The cat-ear roof spoiler along with the bonnet are designed to increase stability at high speeds, while also bringing a sporty look to the overall appearance of the SUV.

Inside, the MG RX5 has a modern style with a 14.1-inch vertical central touch screen, incorporating a new entertainment system from SAIC and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support. The driving meter screen is also quite large, up to 12.3 inches. Other equipment in the cabin includes GPS navigation system, smart key, start button, electronic handbrake, wireless charging and panoramic sunroof.

Under the hood, the MG RX5 is equipped with a 4-cylinder, turbocharged, 1.5L gasoline engine, producing a maximum capacity of 171 horsepower and 275 Nm of torque, combined with a 7-speed automatic transmission. grant.

Selling price continues to be the advantage of MG models in competing with competitors in the same segment. According to some sources, although the MG RX5 belongs to the C-size SUV segment, the price will be equivalent to B-size SUV models such as Hyundai Creta or Kia Seltos.
