BEIJING BJ40 2024 PRESENTED WITH NEW DESIGN NO LONGER A “COPY” OF JEEP WRANGLER

Entering the second generation, the Beijing BJ40 has completely changed its design style, no longer bearing the mark of the Jeep Wrangler as before. Instead, it carries similar lines to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

Beijing BJ40 2024 version has just been launched by BAIC the day before the 2023 Chengdu Auto Show, scheduled to take place on August 25.

In the second generation, the Beijing BJ40 still maintains the body-on-frame chassis design, competing directly with GWM’s famous Tank 300. Compared to the previous generation, BJ40 version 2024 has increased in size. Specifically, the length x width x height of the car are 4,790 x 1,940 x 1,895 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,760 mm. Since then, the 2024 BJ40 version is 160 mm longer, 15 mm wider, 24 mm higher and the wheelbase has increased by 15 mm. Meanwhile, the vehicle’s weight has decreased by 10 kg, reaching 2,130 kg.

In terms of design, the 2024 Beijing BJ40 version still retains the familiar square and angular shape. But notably, compared to the first BJ40, which had many similarities with the Jeep Wrangler, the second generation has changed the design direction, giving it a feeling like a low-priced version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

The front of the car stands out with a new grille, smaller in size and divided into 3 compartments instead of 5 as in the previous version. LED daytime running lights surround the grille and headlights, with the headlights subtly hidden in the contour. Below, the black plastic bumper is integrated with 2 LED fog lights and a sporty silver chassis.

On the side, the Beijing BJ40 2024 exudes strength with large wheel cavities, showing the wild look of an SUV. The body of the car has additional sporty lines to create a sense of kinetic energy. The third window on the side has a silver border to create a highlight. The difference in this generation is that the car’s roof is no longer removable like in the old version. Convenient features will be provided depending on each version, including front radar, panoramic window, side camera, trunk lid and electrically adjustable steps. On the most advanced version, the 2024 BJ40 will use 18-inch wheels, with tires sized 265/65R18.

On the back, the design of the Beijing BJ40 has a flatter trunk door and larger vertical taillights. The trunk door still opens horizontally and still holds the spare tire as before.

Entering the interior, the cabin of the Beijing BJ40 2024 impresses with the dashboard integrating up to 3 screens, including a digital dashboard, central touch screen and front entertainment screen for passengers. Some details have been adjusted such as more square air vents, leather seats, low gear lever, 4-wheel drive mode selector knob, wireless charging for phones, electronic handbrake and system Hold the brake temporarily.

In terms of performance, the 2024 Beijing BJ40 will be equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine, producing a maximum capacity of 180 kW (equivalent to 241 horsepower).
