At the recent 2023 Chengdu Auto Show, MG continued to display a pure electric convertible sports car called Cyberster. In this appearance, the car’s engine parameters were also revealed.
Cyberster is a pure electric sports car model from British automaker MG, first launched at the Shanghai Auto Show in April this year. However, at that time, MG still kept the technical specifications of this car secret. After nearly 4 months, the Cyberster’s performance parameters were revealed at the 2023 Chengdu Auto Show, taking place in China.
According to information, MG Cyberster will have 3 different engine versions. The basic version will be equipped with an electric motor in the rear with a maximum capacity of 309 horsepower. The mid-range version will use an electric motor with a capacity of 335 horsepower, located at the rear. The most powerful version will use two electric motors with a total capacity of up to 536 horsepower and maximum torque of 725 Nm, combined with a four-wheel drive system. With this configuration, Cyberster is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
Regarding maximum speed, the MG Cyberster will be limited to 200 km/h for dual engine versions and 193 km/h for single engine versions.
Comes with the three engine versions are two types of batteries with different capacities, 64 kWh and 77 kWh. They allow the vehicle to travel a maximum of 501 km, 520 km and 580 km when fully charged, according to the CLTC test cycle in China.
Cyberster marks MG’s return to the open-top sports car segment after a long absence. Compared to the first model launched last year, the commercial version has a more refined design and reduces excessively wild lines, providing a more calm appearance. However, the exterior design still represents modernity and sportiness in its segment.
With balanced body proportions, the MG Cyberster has a long front and prominent rear, creating a strong feeling. LED lights at the rear surround the rear of the car along with arrow-shaped taillights with integrated turn signals placed on the black air vent cover. The special highlight of the car is the unique scissor-style door, imbued with the characteristics of Lamborghini models.
Inside, the interior space of the MG Cyberster is designed with a focus on the driver’s experience. The curved dashboard combines 3 screens displaying different technical information located behind the steering wheel. Additionally, there is a screen located in the center armrest. The entertainment system is integrated with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 and Unreal Engine 4.0 graphics technology. This entire system is combined with a high-end Bose speaker system.
Currently, MG has not yet announced the official price for the Cyberster. However, according to information from Chinese media, the expected price will range from 33,000 to 37,000 USD (equivalent to 775 – 870 million VND) in this market.
