At M1 Michigan, the 2024 North American Cars, Trucks and Utility Vehicles (NACTOY) awards were officially announced. The Toyota Prius and Prius Prime won North American Car of the Year honors, while the North American Truck of the Year award went to the Ford Super Duty. The Kia EV9 won the title of North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, completing a trio of important positions in their respective categories.
“Our wins reflect the reality that a modern vehicle must be a fusion of style, utility and technology,” commented NACTOY President Jeff Gilbert. “I commend our 50 judges for making excellent choices.”
NACTOY, celebrating its 30th awards ceremony this year, began the judging process in July by announcing an initial list of 52 eligible vehicles. The list was whittled down to 25 vehicles recognized as “Best of 2024” at the Detroit Auto Show in September. The selection was then narrowed down to nine outstanding candidates, detailed below. revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Last year, the Acura Integra won the car category, while the Ford F-150 Lightning was named Best Truck. Kia took home the title of Best SUV with the EV6 model. For 2022, the Ford Bronco won the SUV segment, the Ford Maverick was named best truck of the year, and the Honda Civic won the best car category.
